How the figures are worked out
Overtime is paid at twice the ordinary basic rate. The hourly basic is the monthly basic divided by 208 (26 working days of 8 hours), so a basic of ৳5,600 gives about ৳53.85 an hour at double rate. An extra duty (a whole shift covering someone else) is paid here at one day's gross. Absences are deducted pro rata on gross pay, and recoveries of advances are capped at half the wages.
